A Pinteresting Party

I recently met a great group of ladies here in Charlotte through a Pinteresting Party! I originally met the host of the party at a bowling get-together where we chatted about all things ladies. Good places to go to get facials, fun things to do in Charlotte, dating, husbands and the inevitable topic, our love for Pinterest. She went on to tell me about her Pinteresting Party she was throwing and of course, I was IN!

Typically before doing a new recipe I like to practice what I’m doing. The roommates I had my senior year of college threw Potluck parties every month with a different theme. It was at one of these parties where I met an awesome guy full of wonderful recipes, and he taught me that you should just always ‘practice’ your recipe so you can adjust to make it perfect for when you take it with you somewhere. Well, in college I couldn’t exactly afford to pay for a practice run and the actual event every time I wanted to make something new. But the lesson definitely followed me to my young adult life and has been something I have done the past couple of years. If it’s something that seems totally out of reach (and let’s face it, that’s a lot of the projects I take on since I don’t consider myself too savvy in the baking/craft department just yet) I certainly like to practice.

Instead of practicing FOR the Pinteresting party, I used the Pinteresting party to practice for my sister’s Baby-Q & Shower that is 2 weeks after the Pinteresting party. I knew this was going to be a great opportunity to meet some new friends and to practice for one of the treats I want to make for the Baby-Q, watermelon colored rice krispie treats!

The idea of a Pinteresting party is very similar to that of a Potluck. Everyone brings a recipe that they have been wanting to try, typically from Pinterest, but from any site really, and everyone sits around, has a few drinks and gets incredibly full off of all the yummy new recipes! It was such a great time and I got to enjoy so much great food.

The other item I decided to try was “Skinny Poolside Dip”, I’ve seen the recipe being repinned all over Pinterest and just had to try it. It came out a little too pepper-flavored for my liking (not necessarily too spicy, I like some hot foods, but I think it was more of the flavor of the spiciness). I think I will cut back on the jalapenos and peppers next time I make it, but it definitely has potential.

Here is a list of some of the other recipes that the ladies made:

  • Pizza Rolls, cheese & pepporoni
  • Low-fat Cream Cheese Danishes
  • Sopapilla Cheesecake
  • Pineapple Bacon Bites with turkey & veggie bacon
  • Chocolate Covered VODKA strawberries (strawberries soaked in vodka first=brilliant!)
  • Skinny Pimento Cheese Bread
  • S’more Dip with Graham Crackers
  • St. Patty’s inspired Pistachio Pudding with a pot of “gold” at the bottom

A Pinteresting Party theme is definitely something I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a reason to get together with your friends and try new recipes!
